Watching the Merseysiders, do a demolition job on the Gunners on Saturday was pretty bad viewing from a Gooners’ perspective, surely even worse from where Wenger was sitting. Though I must say, my frustrations were going through the roof at watching the tiresome figure of Julio 'THE BEAST' Baptista up front for Arsenal.

At times on Saturday, one could see the frustration in his strike partner, Adebayor’s face, with Baptista making runs either in the area where Manu was roaming in, or the lack of a first touch, shocking to see controlling skills like that, coming from a Brazilian. Of course the team in general played/defended quite poorly, one felt, just having Baptista up front....also was not going to help getting a much needed goal(s).

When one checks Julios’ track record at Sevilla, where he bagged 38 goals in 2 seasons, I really thought he would have brought that scoring touch with him when joining Arsenal, not getting as many of course but chipping in, especially in the league since we are desperately short of strikers.

Maybe his best position is not upfront, maybe he could add something to the midfield, beef it up somewhat but seeing him in a role as an out and out Arsenal striker, seems pretty far fetched. For some reason he has not really stamped his authority, as he did in the Carling Cup, in the Premier League. At times he seems lost in the tempo of the game being played in the league in England, a bit like Shevchenko and Ballack find themselves at times for their club.

Remember Baptista never really proved himself at Real Madrid, a player with a big reputation, going to a big club, yet only having cameo roles for the Galacticos.

The problems Arsenal do have now...since Reyes does not want a return to England and added to that, Real Madrid, does not want to pay Arsenal’s asking price, so what to do? Return Baptista to Madrid, and offload Reyes to a Spanish side, willing to buy Reyes for our asking price?

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
