Who is Eduardo Vargas? Good question... Ever heard of Alexis Sanchez? Well, Mr Vargas is on his way to top Mr Sanchez.

The Copa Sud America has just finished 23:00 Chile time, and Universidad de Chile are champions. A great match, none of the English hoof, but rather, all ball on the floor and pass, pass, pass. Exactly the type of game that Arsenal play. Not too many people watched the match in England, I imagine, but it was definitely a match worth watching.

I hear a lot of talk about the need for a back up for RVP, complaints about Park and Chamackh, heck even talk about Torres for twenty million quid. All of this is interesting. But, you want to know what I think is interesting? The two goals scored by Vargas on perhaps one of the biggest stages in South American football. Here is a player that knows where the back of the net is, and is able to keep his cool and slot it past the keeper.

His second goal, the goal that put La U up by three goals to nil, was truly a thing of beauty.

He comes from a country, that thanks to Marcelo Bielsa (now in La Liga), plays football the way it was meant to be played, the Arsenal way.

There was some talk of Vargas coming to Arsenal, and to be honest I would be truly happy if he did. Here is a man destined for greatness, and with the aid of Wenger, he truly can reach the greatest of heights.

His second goal saw him jink his way past many defenders, and cool like the other side of the pillow, slotted the ball past the keeper. However great the goal was as an individual effort, it was his teamwork that was most impressive. His ability to pass the ball when it needed to be passed, and then moving on into space, in fact not even moving, but ghosting into space, unnoticed, was reminiscent of our very own and one of a kind RVP.

And it's not as if he was playing against the competition that Park plays against when slotting goals in for S Korea. Here he was destroying one of the dominant teams from South American football, and no they aren't from Brazil or Argentina, or even Uruguay, but from Ecuador, who are also bringing forth some stunning talent, and all the way until giving away a stupid red card, gave La U a VERY difficult time.

I guess what I'm trying to say is this, if we miss out on this player, Eduardo Vargas, we will really be missing out on a future super star. A player who is already well versed in the Arsenal way of football, without ever having touched foot on the hallowed ground of London Colney.

Of course, all this waffle may be the consequence of one too many whiskeys!!!!
