The Highbury Library animted promo v5 350x350

Reports that Gilberto refused to play tonight were played down by Arsene yesterday.

"I deny that categorically, and I find this assessment disrespectful to a great professional like Gilberto," said the manager. "He is 100 per cent professional and is in the squad for tomorrow. He will play.

"I believe that as a manager and as a player you always have one thing in your mind and that is what is good for the club and the team. I cannot fault Gilberto on that since he arrived here.

"Recently he has played less, but his mentality has been superb. It is important to win every single competition and in this one I use younger players because traditionally it has always been like that. It has helped us a lot to develop the players."

I did think it was a little out of character for the softly spoken Brazilian. I do still believe that he will be sold in either January or end of season. but I couldn't imagine that coming out of Gilberto's mouth, Bendtner perhaps but not Berty boy.

Speaking of which, Arsene has been talking up the ability of the big Dane, Bendtner.

"He is strong. You see his power when he first comes on and he can have an impact in games," Wenger said. "When he has come on he has had an impact every time.

"That is because he is intelligent and he is quick as well with a good technique so he has all the ingredients that the team needs.

Whenever he has featured he has looked pretty impressive and that is without having alot of first team experience. My only problem with having Bendtner in the side is that I am not sure if he would be a great partner with either Adebayor or Van Persie. I think Walcott and Bendtner could work well but there is a very healthy competition upfront.

Alex Hleb is looking for a new deal to stay with the club and rightly so. He is a fantastic player and is improving with every game. In the last few games he has been the outstanding player in this Arsenal team, outshining the likes of Cesc Fabregas.

I am hoping that Diarra can have a storming match tonight and force his way into playing more first team appearances. I expect him to be the star of the show with Bendtner making up for his miss at Anfield.

Prediction: Sheffield United 1 Arsenal 3

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
