My Vision

Written by Mean Lean on Friday, 22 October 2010 16:54

Good afternoon once again,

A somewhat late entry today as my morning was already overflowing with several things to do without adding writing a blog to it. One of these days I will get some consistency with my timing but at the moment it is out of my hands. For those who actually enjoy reading my jumbled thoughts I would advise you to subscribe to the Arsenal Vision RSS Feed. I say that with a hint of boastfulness in my voice not because it is original, far from it in fact. Most blogs, websites have had RSS feeds for donkeys years but I have only joined that gang since the launch of the new site, so forgive my excitement.

Anyway, I did manage to grab some Arsenal TV online action this morning on the AGM that was taking place yesterday. Much of the same it must be said but nevertheless, I pretty much agreed with everything that was being said by Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis. I am still wearing my AKB badge proudly as I write this.

Having a look around at the other clubs, especially further up north at the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, I suspect that some who have advocated over spending in the past may well be on the way to agreeing with the club's policy.

When Liverpool signed Fernando Torres, their supporters must have been dancing in the street and rightly so. Close to £30 million, a top quality striker who would bring them plenty of goals. Ryan Babel, a young Dutch prospect signed for over £10 million and I could go on. Those players have not won any more than the Arsenal players yet if you ask Liverpool supporters which position they would rather be in, well. The answer is pretty obvious isn't it?

Personally I think our combination of bringing through younger players mixed with our work in the transfer market is very good and long may that continue.

Back to football matters, Bacary Sagna is back for the game on Sunday and I am sure he will go straight back into the team. We could be playing against Emmanuel Adebayor once again after he scored a hat trick in last night's Europa cup game. He probably only scored those goals so he could get the chance to play against us. We all know his only motivation in life is to do well against Arsenal. Obsessive man.

Andrey Arshavin's form was questioned in Wenger pre City press conference this afternoon and Wenger spoke about Arshavin's impressive statistics so far this season. He has created the most amount of goalscoring opportunities so far this season in the whole of the Premier League. Not only that but he has also scored five goals so far which is astonishing when you think that he has probably had one good complete 90 minutes this season and that was away to Partizan in the Champions League.

Regular readers know my stance on our little Russian but it is hard to argue with his end product when it really matters. He is certainly in line to start on Sunday after his rest during the midweek clash. Hopefully he can give us the cutting edge needed in a game where the opposition are likely to spend much of their energy trying to stifle us.

We are due a big result away from home in a big game. It is going to be a tough task but being the optimistic Gooner that I am, I have a good feeling about it. There could well be only one goal in the game but I am hoping that the advantage is with us.

More on that game on Sunday morning.

I feel obliged to mention the Wayne Rooney comedy series that has been going on for the last week but I am so sick and tired of it all that I will let it pass me by. How utterly boring and classless.

Back tomorrow.

as arshavin has played most of our games and most of russia's international games his average performances dont surprise me. as wenger says tho stats show arshavin has been pretty good so far this season.

he should hopefully put in a good performance against man city but then he should be rested for both the carling cup newcastle game and west ham next weekend.

then arshavin's fitness should be completely sorted.

    I was just thinking..

We haven't seen Vermaelen for donkeys years. Koscielny is also out and I am very secure about our back central pairing at the back.

It just shows that we have plenty of strength in that area this season.

If our first two were out last season then Silvestre and Campbell or Song depending on the amount of games played, would be starting on Sunday.

ML...that is so true....our 4 CBs have all started the season rather brightly....long may it continue....I also think Fabianski has played his part in making the duo in front of him calmer and more secure.....I give him credit where it is due.

On a side note, lil Jack has been sensational alll season. I remember Arsene stating (sometime in July or August) how Jack was going to get a few games this season. Little did he know the kind of impact the young lad was going to have on season so far. The fact that he is going to miss the next 3 games and everyone is talking about how much we are going to miss him (including the Serial Gooner Hater - Myles Palmer) is such a revelation this season. I cant wait to see him in action again against Shakhtar, hopefully paired up with El Capitan in Donetsk in just under 2 weeks time.

P.S. ML, did you get a mail from me a few days ago (Wednesday night to be precise)....had a few questions about my upcoming visit to the Emirates...I sent the email to the AV gmail account. Please let me know

Gotta say, I'm really happy with our second string defensive unit. It is really so comforting to know we no longer have to hold our breath in fear of Silvestre playing. man, was that guy a liability.

The Squid and DJ have really done the biz recently, and long may that continue. They are really gonna be tested by Manc Jr. Silva was in good form on Thursday and really could be quite a handful for our defense and midfield.

On the other hand, we have had a bit of extra recuperation time, having played on Tuesday, as compared to Manc who played on Thursday.

Sadebayor will no doubt want to once again put his 'excellence' into the face of every single Gooner, however, I think we may just have enough to pull a W out the bag.

    Come on you Gunners!!!!!!!
