My Vision
Written by Mean Lean on Friday, 10 December 2010 13:59
How long is this flu stuff supposed to last for? I am still under the weather and feeling no better than I was last week. Getting rather bored of being at home now, haven't seen daylight for god knows how long. At least I have this laptop and this internet thingy I guess.
Unfortunately along with the internet, I have come across even more ramblings from Patrice Evra. He has a habit of opening his mouth and attacking our club, maybe he could start his own Evra News Review on the side with so many of his stupid opinions.
I hope his words will be spoken about in the Arsenal dressing room and then served up as extra motivation on the pitch. Not that the Arsenal players should need any extra motivation when it comes to our old enemy, but surely that cannot hurt.
I am sure you have already seen the Evra quotes so I shall not be infecting this site with them. I just hope that whoever goes head to head with him, whether that be Nasri or Theo then they can ram his words back down his throat by leaving him on his arse on more than one occasion along with perhaps a couple of nutmegs. That would only be fair.
If anyone can, *all together now* Nasri can!
Monday's game does mean that even with Cesc likely to be missing from the starting eleven, that an important attacking squad member will be left disappointed on the bench. Theo Walcott has expressed his frustration to be left out in midweek in Europe and will be itching for a start against the Mancs but the likelihood is that he will remain on the bench.
Andrey Arshavin was shocking on Wednesday but the fact that he plays on the left and has improved in recent weeks (Wednesday aside) means that he is likely to continue to keep his place. Wenger could accommodate all three if Nasri was moved into the middle in place of Van Persie/Chamakh or Rosicky but in his current form, I just do not see that happening. The whole, 'if it is not broken...' thing most certainly applies.
One player who will not be involved will be Manuel Almunia who is rumoured to be off come the opening of the January window. Apparently he does not want to sit on the Arsenal bench if he is not number one (I guess it would be difficult to be number one and sit on the bench at the same time) which isn't really the right attitude to have but after an awful summer where he wasn't really treated with a great deal of respect, it is perhaps understandable that he may want to look elsewhere.
There is no official word on this, as if we would hear anything but I think the long standing elbow injury pretty much says it all to be honest. I know he is not a fans favourite but I do feel somewhat sorry for him after he put in a good shift at the start of the season before the terrible team showing against West Brom at the Emirates.
It looks very much as if the future is now Lukasz Fabianski and Tech 9 (as his team mates call him) so if Almunia does move on then I wish him the best of luck, unless he comes up against us at any point in the rest of his career but maybe I am getting a little carried away with pure speculation. And it would be wise to wait and see before making concrete judgements as I have just done. Tut tut.
The footballing gods have really got it in for me haven't they? I have been rather excited like a little boy on Christmas day about the arrival of Wellington da Silva in January, once he is granted his work permit. You know, the one that they promised him.
FIFA being FIFA decided against it and refused. It seems like our appeal for a special talent visa was also turned down, so we will not be seeing him in an Arsenal shirt for a number of years now as he will have to go out on loan to a Spanish team to become eligible to apply for Spanish citizenship.
3-5 years! That must be heart breaking for the lad who will probably miss his new mate Denilson. At least it gives him experience and hopefully he will be closer to a first team place at 21-23 rather than at 18.
If life was fair, then Patricia Evra would be the one farmed out on loan for five years and Wellington could join at the best club in England for development. The Arsenal.
And with that, I shall cry and cough myself to bed.
Back tomorrow.

Ever year my Mr Evra pops up before manchester united game, and he says something daft, we responds we legitimatise what he says, it puts us off our game and we get distracted.
For one year lets ignore him and play football, just remember the world cup where he acted like a child and lets move on.
I really dont want the next 48 hours reading what Evra said or didnt say, Just play Football

10-Dec-2010 16:48 | | Man United Killa - Same old Story
I dont blame anyone but Wenger.He has filled the club with a bunch of useless so-called first-teamers such as Diaby,Denilson,Eboue,Aluminum, and Co.
No wonder Man United has beaten us consistently over the past few years and now Fools like Evra feel they can talk crap about our beloved Arsenal.
United will beat us on Monday and in the next fixture until we show some ambition by signing quality.Until we do that,we will always be a class below....very disappointing!!

Who needs the opposition slagging off our team when we have our own fans ey?
MUD, all of your recent comments have been exactly the same, attacking our own players.
Do you not have anything to say about our system, our away record, the return of RVP and Cesc, the form of Nasri? Anything else?
Doesn't that excite you at all?
Clearly you feel that our squad is rubbish and lowest of the low etc etc
So in your opinion why are we currently top albeit playing a game more, in the semi of the carling cup and in the next round of the Champions League?
It is a strange world when a team which is full of useless players are in that position in mid December.

10-Dec-2010 20:47 | | Man United Killa - My response to ML
Meal Lean, though I agree that I have been a bit overly critical of my own beloved Arsenal these days,don't get me wrong,I love Arsenal to the bone so sometimes i get very frustrated beyond what words can say.
I know what we are doing at Arsenal,developing youngsters and keeping the finances intact is a wonderful thing, but sometimes we need to make that killer signing.
Believe it or not certain players are game changers and all I am saying is that we don't have enough of such players in the team and that is a big source of worry for me.
It displeases me that players such as Denilson,Diaby and Alumnium are first-teamers who are constantly on the first team list.Some of the players dont have what it takes to be among the starting 11 and its killing the team.
I am not crazy about spending excessively but the truth is that,until we have two or three more of such players we will always struggle.This is not the first time Arsenal has been in such a position around this time of the year.The real challenger comes when we have to play multiple games and fatigue becomes a problem around the Christmas new year curve.
As life-long Arsenal fan,like many others, i dont think asking for players who have the mentality and the quality do ruthlessly do the job is asking too much of our beloved club.
I am sorry if I come off as negative but I have been too happy with our performances lately.Its a shame and it leaves a lot to be desired.Things must change.This is not the mark of a champion.
I wish i could push evra into a pool of freezing water.lol..punk!!

10-Dec-2010 20:56 | | Man United Killa - Response continued
and there I go,throwing a few typos in there...
I love Nasri,RVP,Cesc,Vermaelen,Song and a few others and everyone knows that Nasri has always been my favorite-since day 1.
Now that was a good point you made but ask yourself ML: Isn't it great to see how Nasri stepped up and single handedly won the game for us?Though team work was heavily involved,he tucked the chances away beautifully.All I am saying is that,we need more of such quality in the team.Besides I still get nightmares of Drogba pushing our defence around like characters of a chess game.
This team is not capable of winning the league or more especially the CL with the players that we have.Heck!!we even struggled to qualify.

Thank you for the response MUK,
"I know what we are doing at Arsenal,developing youngsters and keeping the finances intact is a wonderful thing, but sometimes we need to make that killer signing"
You say that as if we are doing it for the sake of it. We are keeping our finances intact because we have to. Every club has to and you will no longer see many clubs spending beyond their means.
You do not like player x,y,z but that doesn't mean they are bad players. That is your opinion. It doesn't mean you are correct.
Another thing, we do not just buy young players. Arshavin, Vermaelen, Sagna, Squillaci are just a few names in the recent seasons.
We have been competing against clubs who have bankrupted themselves to get into a position a) higher than us or b) competing at our level.
There is not a magic £25 million potion that brings in x player and we win everything in front of us.
We have a manager in place who has a track record of buying top players at prices that we can afford. And when Wenger eventually leaves, whichever manager will have to abide by those same structures.
While it frustrates me that we do not always hold onto leads, or we have made costly errors in big games etc etc I still celebrate and enjoy the good times and the good things we achieve on a match basis.
It doesn't mean that we do not have any problems to solve, it just means that we support what we have and hope that we fix, grow, buy what we do not.
This is of course my view but just feel that it is counter productive to continuously slag off what we have.

11-Dec-2010 04:29 | | richie - To buy or not to buy that is the question
My view is well know on these pages; I like our current building programme
I like the idea of building a team rather than buying a team "a la money City"
Sure if we don't have a player coming through our ranks then buy one.
We bought Nas, we bought Shava, RvP, Chamakh (sort of) in fact unless my memory fails me we purchased most of the 1st team.
Agreed a lot came when they were really young but if they didn't come through the ranks we bought them.
Muk,
We are about to play your name sake, the Manu'er (much as it pains me to say it) easily the most successful team in the top tier by a considerable margin. Muk would you care to look at Manu'er's squad and put it alongside our own.
I'd like to do just that in my own way.
Diaby = Hardgreaves Potentially could both be game changers but have suffer horrific injuries Hardgreaves cost £17mil Diaby cost £2mil
Denilson = Anderson Both Brazilians one cost £17mil depending on apps the other cost us £3.4mil would we really want to swoop?
Eboue=Rafael etc etc
The rest of Our mids against theirs who would you fancy swooping?
Carrick = Cesc
Nani = Nasri
Park = Wiltshire
Giggs = Rosicky
Scholes = Arshavin
I'd argue that the real game changers are our to be found in central defense and GK How we didn't buy ex Ajax GK VdS when we could've beats me, he was available cheap. Its in their back 3 that all the game changers are to be found. They are the only ones who would walk into our side, Rio is old now and I'm expecting Taggart to sign a big name soon.
