The World cup is slowly edging towards a conclusion one way or the other. The free flowing group stage games have been replaced by cagey knock out matches and I am not sure we'll see any different in the semi finals between Brazil vs Germany and Argentina vs The Netherlands.

The Arsenal representation has whittled down to just the three German players. Only one of those players (Mesut Özil) could actually start and I must say from a completely selfish point of view this sits just swell with me as today is the very first day of pre season training. The longer our players get to rest legs before they come back to Colny the better.

It seems as if Mathieu Debuchy will be joining the Arsenal squad for pre season training as reports have come out tonight from the North West as well as London that the right back has passed his medical and is now an official Arsenal player. With photographs, interviews and all such media duties I wouldn't be surprised if we have to wait a few days before any announcement is made on the dot com.

Like many I thought Serge Aurier was our target, his crossing and pace left many Gooners including myself salivating at the prospect of Serge doing that in an Arsenal shirt but instead Arsène went for experience, and a player who would not be missing due to the ACN which would have been a rather large hindrance. Now I think about it, I did wonder why we had a bid rejected for Atlético Madrid's Juanfran if we were looking to buy Aurier, but I just brushed it off as nothing, when looking at the Spaniard's age it should have told us something about Arsène's intentions.

A lot of folk have already made definitive judgements on Debuchy. Some suggest he isn't Arsenal quality or that he is a defensive liability so I would urge you to wait until you've seen his performances for Arsenal rather than Newcastle. He will be playing with better players under a better coach so his performances could rise along with the quality of those around him. While we might not have a player as capable defensively as our former number three, it will be nice to have a player who doesn't look like he is about to freeze when he receives the ball towards the opposition penalty area. I hope Giroud has been telling him to work on his delivery when pre season starts because I'd love to see an improvement on that front from previous seasons. casinos with sportsbooks are a great way of making some cash but I'd say betting on the Arsenal might be a success also if we are able to get hold of our targets.

As good as a defender Sagna was, in many games especially at home his defensive attributes were rarely used. Instead he was acting as an auxiliary winger. It was also interesting to read that Debuchy is very strong in the air which is what we are losing in Sagna, especially as an out ball from Szczesny from goal kicks. Statistically Debuchy is better in the air but I'll wait to judge that in the games.

I wanted to write about Alexis Sanchez (like everyone else no doubt) but the Debuchy rumours took over so I will try and write something tomorrow. It will be my theory on why Arsène might want him and how he could be used for Arsenal. I even have some dodgy video to use as my example so be sure to check back tomorrow afternoon/evening.

'till then.
