A few Newcastle United supporters were kind enough to give me their time and answer some questions on today's match between Arsenal and Newcastle United at St James' Park. It appears that confidence in the manager and higher management isn't exactly sky high right now.

1) With Pardew now gone and Carver in place in the hot seat, how are you feeling about Newcastle's situation at present?

@Dfozzy1970 - Desperate! Carver is a carbon copy of Pardew. No tactical sense at all (you'll see)

@John_nufc42 - The club is a sinking ship at the minute the club isn't moving forward under him. JC record reads 2 wins 4 draws & 5 defeats doesn't fills me with confidence. Football being served up has been appalling its defensive boring & it's not inspiring at all. He can't be getting the job next season otherwise we'll be relegated next season also he'll be a cheap option for Mike Ashley. There's options out there finding a new manager. Remi Garde or Thomas Tuchel would be ideal they play football the right way & also entertain the fans

@NUFCarter - Dismal. The excitement of Pardew leaving didn't last long after being told Carver will be the man to take the helm, a man which most NUFC fans wanted gone with Pardew. It has only gotten worse since then. No signings in January which we desperately needed and it’s epitomised by the state of our squad right now, Players have given up once again - they only seem to put a shift in for half a season and even that’s debatable, there’s just no prospect to get excited about for NUFC. Fans are almost adamant Carver will get the job full-time resulting in more cancellation of season tickets. Another summer will come along where Ashley promises to spend ‘big’ but nothing materialises come the 1st of September. At present its painful being an NUFC fan, there’s no ambition so there’s nothing to get excited about - cups are out of the question and finishing tenth is a good season in the clubs eyes who continue to feed us lies and excuses. Sometimes I wonder what is the point anymore?

2) Who has been your player of the season so far?

@Dfozzy1970 - For me, Jaanmart. (Won't be with us much longer)

@John_nufc42 - In my eyes it'll have to be Daryl Janmaat his distribution from RB is superb very good coming forward good vision as well. Ayoze Perez come on the scene and has done really well with his skill running work rate but he can't play up front on his own.

@NUFCarter - Its a hard one because so many of them have under performed. Sissoko was looking brilliant again but has deteriorated in the last few months along with many others so I’d have to say Ayoze Perez. Brilliant on the  ball, consistent and a great finisher. All he needs is the service.

3) Today you face a disappointed Arsenal team coming back from Champions League elimination. Do you think it's a good time to play us?

@Dfozzy1970 - It's NEVER a good time to face Arsenal!

@John_nufc42 - Not at all. You're playing against a very poor NUFC team ATM. Arsenal has got a world class squad that plays exciting free flowing football with goals all over the team. You'll still be too strong for us on the day

@NUFCarter - Yes but that makes no difference at all except you may score one or two less

4) Which Arsenal player(s) worry you before the game?

@Dfozzy1970 - I really like Sanchez & Giroud

@John_nufc42 - Alexis Sanchez has been absolute box office this season what a fantastic first season he's having the time of his life needs to be watched & also Olivier Giroud has been scoring plenty you'll have too much class & skill for us

@NUFCarter - Giroud. In great form in the premier league and with our makeshift defence he’ll rip us apart. He’ll get two or three today

5) Carver said that Newcastle had something up their sleeve ahead of this match, What player/tactic should we be worried about? (I promise not to tell Arsene and the coaching staff)

@Dfozzy1970 - That will be news to us if he has a plan! (Don't bother defending corners, we're awful at them)

@John_nufc42 - I'm afraid JC isn't a manager the club is too big for him he's tactically inept he's got to play Janmaat as emergency centre half we got two wingers who can't cross the ball in Obertan & Sammi if he thinks we got something up their sleeve then he's in for a shock. If Remi Cabella starts he needs to be watched he's got bags of skill, stopovers & his dribbling skills is a joy to watch but sadly for the others you got nothing to worry about

@NUFCarter - There’s nothing that will worry Wenger today. He’ll probably start both Ayoze and Cabella today although Cabella is a bit of a hit and miss and Ayoze especially in games like this will find it hard to get on the ball. If Sissoko turns up then we can be a problem on the counter attack. Colback and Janmaat pushing forward too could lead to a good attack. Janmaat is probably the best player at crossing the ball in our team today.

6) Are you confident about today's game?

@Dfozzy1970 - No, anything less than a 4-0 drubbing would do

@John_nufc42 - Sadly not at all I'm preparing to see your side slaughter us 4-0. We only have 13 fit players available & we've got a player in Riviere who haven't scored a league goal this season that's a worry if we start with Gouffran Sammi & Obertan that's not a good sign our defence worries me as well.

@NUFCarter - No. Our defence worries me and I feel we’ll rarely get the ball past the half way line. you’ll camped in our half targeting the inequalities of our back line.

7) Do you miss Yohan Kebab?

@Dfozzy1970 - More than he misses us! £££

@John_nufc42 - I do miss him we could do with a player like him back now his vision passing & can score from long distance is a massive miss hopefully Cabella if he starts can do the business

@NUFCarter - Yes without a doubt, although I have no sympathy for him when I see him sitting on that PSG bench. It pi$$es me off as he is a real talent and was our best player for the last few years. I’d take him back any da.

8) Before we go, I would just like to thank Newcastle for being the first team to beat Chelsea this season. We all enjoyed that very much. Good luck for the rest of the season.. after Saturday of course.

@Dfozzy1970 - That (unfortunately) will be our seasons highlight

@John_nufc42 - ha ha and you as well love to win it but you're too class & too good for us on the day

@NUFCarter - One of the few memorable games of this season. Always love to beat one of the top four. Absolute shock if it occurs today. From November to the start of December was our best time this season. Just seems so long ago now.

Once again, thank you to the Newcastle United fans for taking part. Let's hope for a good game of football at the very least.

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
