A lot rides on how Arsenal performs this season, especially for manager Arsene Wenger, whose time at the Emirates is surely coming to an end. So, how will Arsenal fare in all competitions and in which one should you back the Gunners to win? All odds, unless otherwise stated, are brought to you by Bovada.
Back Arsenal To Win The FA Cup
Arsenal To Win FA Cup: 7/1 (William Hill)
This is your must-pick. Arsenal has the best chance of winning silverware this season in the FA Cup and will do so as long as the team takes the competition seriously from the off. They have the depth and skill to breeze past the early stages, even with fringe players taking center stage. As the competition progresses to the business end, we fully expect Arsenal’s big guns to bring the FA Cup back to North London.
Arsenal To Win The Premier League: +1000
Arsenal, pegged at +1000, are currently fourth favourites to win the Premier League. The odds, in our opinion, are about right. Most online sportsbooks believe the Premier League crown will be heading back to the money bags of Manchester, but not if Arsenal has anything to say about it. Wouldn’t it be the best way for Wenger to leave his managerial position?
Of course, there’s a lot of work to be done before handing the title to the North Londoners and a lot will depend on how they perform during the business end of the season. There’s no doubt that Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will lead the charge offensively, and even less doubt they’ll do magnificently. The two maestros just need to stay healthy for the duration of the campaign.
The main blight on Wenger has been his inability, or lack of desire, to obtain a world-class forward, centre back and defensive midfielder. Wenger has, by signing young centre back Rob Holding, defender Shkrodan Mustafi, midfielders Lucas Perez and Granit Xhaka, obtained the variables required to make a concerted title challenge.
Xhaka will protect the back four astutely while Holding and Mustafi should fit into the starting-11 fold at some point. Holding is only 20 years old and will need some time to mature, but promises to be a great centre back.
The only questions are whether the new signings fit into the team seamlessly, cohesively and in a timely manner. We don’t they’ll make a big enough impact to propel the Gunners to the Premier League title in 2016-17 but believe glory is only a year or two away, probably without Wenger at the helm. Arsenal, however, is, at -115, a lock to finish in the top four once again.
Arsenal To Win The Champions League: +2500
We like Arsenal to win Group A ahead of PSG, which contravenes many online sportsbooks’ viewpoints. At +150, it’s a bet that you should jump on the minute you’ve finished reading this article. Arsenal will have learned their lesson from last year and pip PSG for first place in the group.
We like Arsenal to make it to the quarterfinal of this season’s Champions League. The Gunners are currently pegged at +2500 to win Europe’s premier club competition, which at this stage is a bit beyond the current squad. However, we like Arsenal’s chances, if they keep the squad together, of winning the 2017-18 Champions League.
Alexis Sanchez To Win Premier League Golden Boot: +2500
Our dark horse, outsider, bet has Alexis Sanchez winning this season’s Golden Boot. Is it unlikely? Probably. Have stranger things happened? Definitely. This man is a physical specimen and can dominate a game at will. As long as he stays healthy, Sanchez has the ability to score 20 or more goals, which would put him smack dab in the middle of the top-goalscorers race. Take Sanchez now while the gettin is good.
