Arsenal 2 Crystal Palace 1

Talk about cutting it fine but we got there in the end. Three excellent Gooners on Twitter have agreed to share their views on the game so let's get this underway.

1) As time was ticking away did you believe we would get that goal?

@Arsenal_Supremo - Last season I probably would of said we wouldn't score that final goal but I believed we would get that goal because of  the confidence in the team after winning 2 trophies in the last 2 months made me feel we could nick that goal in the end and the man in form Aaron Ramsey saved the day again.

@Fattcheeked - Always positive so I felt we would find a way to score. We turned up the heat when Giroud came on and then the red card gave us numerical advantage as well so I was hopeful.

@Orangeiceman10 - I was confident to a certain degree, Palace were extremely well drilled & organised. Tony Pulis has done a fantastic job there & I'm sure what he's shown them will live on. I thought we could have tested Speroni a bit more over the course of the game, we got there in the end though.

2) What did you think we missed in our game this afternoon?

@Arsenal_Supremo - We certainly missed Ozil because we didn't have anyone one playing behind the striker, playing the number 10 role. That's why we had probems breaking down their defence as they had 10 men behind the ball.

@Fattcheeked - The passing. The fluency and accuracy of the passes were a bit off and this contributed to us not creating good chances to score. Add that to Palace defending deep with 10 men nullifying the threat Sanogo poses of hanging on the shoulder of the last defender and making runs. A lone striker playing against a team defending that deep needs to either hold the ball up or dribble to create something. Yaya doesn't do either.

@Orangeiceman10 - I'd like to see a bit more urgency when things are level, seems that we need to go behind sometimes for the team to react. We should go at teams from the first whistle, we certainly have the players to do so.

3) What did you make of our new signings?

@Arsenal_Supremo - Chambers yet again had a great game he didn't put a foot wrong he broke play up when he needed and for his age he is really settling into the side really well and can be our next Tony Adams if he keeps up his progression.  Alexis showed signs of his form with some silky silks but lacked that final ball and shot to score but it will take time for him until we see him at his best. He is really hard working which is great to see tracking back trying to win the ball back for the team, this will certianly please the Arsenal fans seeing this and his work rate. Debuchy had a solid game but he will get better in time the more games he plays.

@Fattcheeked - I feel like Sanchez is doing everything right apart from delivering a quality final ball but I think it'll come with more games with the players. He got an assist today and his work rate is incredible. He ran everywhere for 90 minutes. It's great to have some pace in the team and someone willing to run at his marker. Debuchy looks to have replaced Sagna with giving the 7/10 performance every game. I know he's 3 games into his Arsenal career but they've all been solid 7s. We'll create many goals from that right side of the pitch once he and Sanchez blend more. I think I'm in love with Chambers. He's extremely solid for a 19 year old CM/RB playing CB. His inexperience showed once or twice today but he's been great.

@Orangeiceman10 - Chambers has been fantastic so far, unbelievably comfortable in possession of the ball. Good strong tackler & not bad in the air. He's going to be some player for us.

Debuchy plays like he's played with us for years, not as good as Sagna defensively but a bigger threat going forward. Solid RB for next couple of years

Alexis... Well I don't think I need say anything there. Smashing player

Ospina could push Szczesny all the way for number 1 spot, quality keeper & seriously cheap at £3m

4) Who in your opinion disappointed today?

@Arsenal_Supremo - Cazorla didn't have his best of games as time after time he gave the ball away and lacked energy which was strange to see, he crosses was poor today but hopefully he can do much better in future games and I am counting this performance as a one off.

@Fattcheeked - I have to say Santi. Love our little magician but today wasn't one of his better games. He improved late in the game when he moved central but overall he could have been better. Ramsey wasn't too far off behind him but then he got the winner and I think the "rules" dictate for us to not conveniently forget performance if the player scores.

@Orangeiceman10 - I think Santi had a poor game but playing out left just doesn't suit him, his natural tendency is come central. Jack was great again today, need more performances like the one against City last week

5) Who was your man of the match and why?

@Arsenal_Supremo - I would give the MOTM to Aaron Ramsey, he was the player driving at their defence, trying to get into the box as much as possible to get that goal and in the end he was our match winner sealing all three points. This was his 5th goal in 6 competetive games which is great form and lets hope this continues!

@Fattcheeked - Chambers was the MOTM for me. Defensively solid, even managed to do some dribbling for his highlight reel. I don't know where his position will be long-term but it's obvious he'll be a big player for us. Jack was next best.

@Orangeiceman10 - I thought Alexis was man of the match, never stopped running, always looking for the ball, set up Koscielny's goal & looked dangerous throughout.

6) Any other thoughts?

@Fattcheeked - Work on defending setpieces as we've conceded from it 3 times in 4 games now. The rest of our game will come back as soon as the players gel and other key players return.

@Orangeiceman10 - Nope not really, just good to start the season with three points. Some huge games on the horizon & really looking forward to the season ahead. Great to be back

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
