It’s about time we won the FA Cup again. It’s been a year or so. And we need further revenge for 2001.

Stats

I’d firstly randomly like to make people aware of this stunning piece of reporting from Arsenal.con from the game last night.

This win takes Arsenal above Liverpool and into fourth place', while in reality Liverpool remain a point above us. Excellent.

Current Form

Liverpool are currently in one of their slightly more consistent than usual patches of the season. From their last six games they’ve picked up five wins and one loss, scoring thirteen and conceding one, taking them above us in the league table. Going three games further back gives them another win and a draw. Perhaps not the best time to have to play them twice in four days, but what are you gunna do? Let’s stuff the scouse bastards. Twice.

FA Cup History – Wenger Era

We’ve met them twice in the cup in the last 9 years. Beat them in the fourth round at home with Dennis scoring the only goal in 2002, and lost in the final in 2001. I can still remember crying at the final whistle.

League Fixture History – Wenger Era

Since Arsene took over, we’ve won two games at Anfield, drawn two and lost five. Not the best of hunting grounds.

Team News

Adebayor: Still carrying a thigh injury and had no chance of playing Tuesday night. Probably back for the Blackburn in a week and a half’s time.

Gallas: Same again, with the same injury.

Eboue: Fit for Saturday, whether he’ll start ahead of our other two fit right backs, no ones quite sure.

Ljungberg: Still has a hamstring problem, should be back by the Blackburn game according to Wenger’s four week prognosis two and a half weeks ago.

Walcott: Has a back injury. Should be back for Carling Cup fixture, probably short for Saturday.

Baptista: Possibly back by this weekend, one of the possible candidates to take Fabregas’ place in a 4-5-1.

Fabregas: Suspended.

Van Persie: Possible suspended. Conflicting reports all over the place.

Diaby: Back by the end of the month unless something happens to change that.

Possible Arsenal Team

With Fabregas out, it’s anyone’s guess as to what the team will be.

I would guess some variation of this 4-5-1:

Lehmann
Hoyte/Lauren Toure Senderos/Djourou Clichy
Hleb Gilberto Flamini Rosicky/Baptista Walcott/Rosicky
Henry

Almunia, Djourou/Senderos, Denilson, Walcott/Rosicky, Aliadiere.

If van Persie is going to play, a 4-4-2 containing some of the following players would be most likely:

Lehmann
Hoyte/Lauren Toure Senderos/Djourou Clichy
Hleb Flamini Gilberto Rosicky
Van Persie Henry

Almunia, Djourou/Senderos, Denilson, Walcott, Baptista/Aliadiere

Personally I hope it’s the former, whichever results in Aliadiere not starting.

Possible Liverpool Team

They have Zenden, Sissoko and Kewell definitely out for Saturday, with Bellamy possibly recovering from a hamstring injury to be back in time.

Reina
Finnan Carragher Hyppia/Agger Riise
Pennant/Garcia Gerrard Alonso Gonzalez
Crouch/Bellamy Kuyt

Hopefully they’ll all catch on fire.
