Portsmouth are the visitors for our third home game in eight days, as we look to continue our good start to the season. Pompey were desperately unfortunate to leave Cuntford Bridge with nothing last weekend as they completely outplayed Chelsea for most of the game, losing only to a standard issue flukey Lampard winner. If they play like that again on Sunday, then we’ll have to play very well if we’re to win. They’ve come through a very tough start to the season playing well. With Lauren, Campbell and Kanu set to play, their team line up will get nearly as much applause as ours.

Stats

We’ve played Portsmouth nine times under Arsene and are yet to be beaten by the Hampshire side, winning four times and drawing five. We haven’t beaten them since December 2005, drawing our last three meetings. Henry managed to score nine goals in five matches against them, so let’s see how we do without him.

Team News

Arsenal

Gallas and Jens still out for this game. Eboue and Sanga are also out. Hleb is to face a late fitness test, as he is ill. Wenger only has the standard dilemmas of who to start upfront and in central midfield to deal with. Probably Adebayor and Gilberto playing alongside Fabregas and van Persie.

Subs: Fabianski, Flamini, Diaby, Denilson, Eduardo/Bendtner

Portsmouth

Not entirely sure how Pompey will lineup, they’ve played vastly different teams in each of their four games so far. They played five in midfield against Chelsea, so one would presume they’ll do it again with Utaka pushing forward to support Kanu.
