Sheffield United again. Atleast we won’t have to put up with Warnock this time, but away games up north will always be a decent test for our kids. After losing at this ground last season the players will be after revenge, even if they didn’t play. We’ll put out a similar team to the one that comprehensively beat a full strength Newcastle side at Ashburton Grove, so the kiddies should be full of confidence. Winning this would be a nice confidence boost going into the United game.
We’ve drawn Sheffield United in cup competitions four times, three of those ties requiring replays. They knocked us out in the third round of the FA Cup in 1996, since then we’ve won each time. We’ve played them in all competitions thirteen times since 1992, winning six, drawing five and losing two. If one counts the void result in 1999.
Still just RvP and Senderos injured, so I expect we’ll see a similar side to that which played against Newcastle. Walcott or Eboue on the right, I’m thinking maybe Eboue, with a view to starting Walcott upfront against Manchester United.
