The Highbury Library animted promo v5 350x350

It feels as if we have blinked and now we are back in action once more, this time the FA Cup is back in focus.

It is difficult to know how to feel about a change of competition at this stage. The equaliser at Tottenham only a few days ago gave us all a bit of a lift and I wouldn't have minded another Premier League game to jump straight back into, but victory tonight and a home win against Watford on Sunday and we are in the Semi Finals of a competition we have won twice in a row, without jumping any sort of a gun here, you cannot help but feel a tinge of excitement about the real possibility of winning a 3rd FA Cup in a row, but we have some way to go before we can seriously consider that.

Tonight I expect Arsène to ring in the changes, he said as much in the pre match presser. Rotation has it's pros and cons, we know what the cons are of playing the same players every match, having lost some key players for long stretches of the season and also Oliver Giroud's drop in form are good indicators of playing too much football but at the same time, when you produce a good team performance as we did for the most part at White Hart Lane, you want to get that group of players back on the pitch once more and as quickly as possible.

After the game against Hull City tonight I expect most of the 1st team to come back into the team for the weekend regardless of which competition and which opposition we face.

With Laurent Koscielny still out with injury, I imagine we will stick with Mertesacker and Gabriel at centre back, the left back choice on the weekend was interesting. Arsène said that Monreal had a calf problem or something so it will be interesting to see if Monreal comes back in on the weekend but I imagine Gibbs will start once more tonight.

Alexis Sanchez looked much closer to his best form at Tottenham so it will be quite tempting to keep him back in the team, another goal for him would be great for his confidence but perhaps the best option will be putting him on the bench to come on late in the game and save him for some very important and difficult fixtures in the not too distant future.

Alex Iwobi will come back into the team tonight, Arsène waxed lyrical about him before the game and it certainly seems as if he has plenty of confidence from the manager.

Mean Lean's Predicted Line Up:

Having a look at that attack, it has a real feel of the team we played a few weeks ago before some of our injured players came back.

I am intrigued to see Elneny, Iwobi and Campbell combining together. Those three seem to be the type of players who can use each other to carve open the opposition.

Momentum is important if we are to have a good race to the end of the season so fingers crossed we can build on the largely positive performance on the weekend.

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
