I am getting a sense of déjà vu here but doesn't it feel like an awful long time since we last played and defeated Everton rather convincingly at Goodison Park. It's kinda typical isn't it? We have been getting pants results left, right and centre every few days for a good few weeks at least then when we put in a top performance and finally win, we get called for time out while our players travel all over the world to play for their countries. At least it seems like those players will be returning without any parts missing or hanging off and that is all we can ask for.
So Watford come back to Arsenal once more probably still feeling rather chuffed with themselves for dumping us out of the FA Cup not so long ago. Bahhh! That still hurts. How many of those games have we had this season? You know the one where we have all the ball, shoot all our shots at the keeper and then do something silly and allow the opposition a goal. Watford, Swansea, Southampton and Hull City all recent examples of that kind of game at the Emirates stadium.
But hopefully, hopefully things are moving on and we are getting back to somewhere near our best. Yes small sample size and Everton were poo but we looked good at the home of the Toffees. We've made alterations to our line up and performances at Barcelona (even though we lost) and Everton show that we are making some progress in terms of our game. As PIMP recently said, DON’T CUT THE RED WIRE. DON’T TOUCH A F*CK*NG THING
Same again please boss, that means Elneny and Coquelin, Alexis kept on the right where he can get in behind and past his man rather than continuously cutting inside and the young Alex Iwobi playing with freedom and intelligence. I do like the look of that kid, I must say.
Mean Lean's Predicted Line Up:
No surprises there and I will be massively shocked and surprised to see anything other than the above line up.
I know the title is a super long shot and I should be preparing myself for the inevitable but f**k it! What is the point of this whole supporting thingy if you cannot retain some hopes and dreams? However unlikely they may appear. Imagine if the players had thrown in the towel and coasted for the next few games only to see Leicester City and Tottenham bottle it and drop points they would have expected to win? Yeah I know, you don't have to say it out loud.
We'd be all kicking ourselves or in some cases posting insults to Arsenal players on Twitter. What is with that? I find that behaviour really odd but anyway I am going off track here.
I just had a pause to think about what I hoped for today and I think I'd love to see a couple of clinical goals from Danny Welbeck. I really like the cut of Danny's hi-top jib, he has so much about him and really would be the perfect all round striker if he could do the whole putting the ball into the 'ol net thing on a consistent basis. We still haven't seen that from him yet but in fairness, he hasn't played as a central striker in a settled Arsenal side. The team he played as the number 9 was a bit of a mess and was gelling together.
So yeah, I want to see Welbeck cut inside his man and bend the ball around the keeper to open the scoring then race onto an Özil pass and slot away the second to deflate the hornets. Then we can go on in the second half to add the 3rd and 4th. Read above about hopes and dreams.
Short one today as I need to get to sleep before taking my boy to football training, then fingers crossed watch Arsenal grab another 3 points to keep my hopes and dreams alive.
