The Highbury Library animted promo v5 350x350

The first thing I noticed as the game started is that Arsene Wenger and William Gallas have had words at some point during his lay off that he does not want to play at full back again for Arsenal.

Wenger reshuffled a number of players to accommodate Gallas in the middle. We had to have three others in unnatural positions. Hoyte (left Back), Djourou (Right Back) and Gilberto (Center back)

Abou Diaby started the move which lead to his goal. Some great feet by the big man from the left hand side he flicked the ball inside to Baptista who hit a poor shot which Diaby snuck out a foot to wrong foot Sorensen for 1-0. It just goes to show what can happen when you shoot. Frank Lampard, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo make many lucky assists like that.

Aliadiere had two great chances while through on goal but could not find the quality to finish.

Arsenal were very lucky that Djourou fouled Carew when he did and not a split second later.

Throughout the whole first half our defence looked very shaky. Villa looked like they could get in whenever they liked. We missed the screen infront of our back four from Gilberto who was looking half the player at centre back.

Francesc Fabregas showed his class with a wonderful range of passes during that first half. When he has the space and confidence to play he is a joy to watch. There are not many players at that age who has a picture of the game so early before he makes the pass.

On 43 minutes Jeremie Aliadiere missed an absolute glorious chance with a header into the floor which soared high over the bar. He could have quite easily walked off at half time with a hat trick.

The Gunners back four continued to look in a mess in the first few seconds of the second half as one long punt down field sent Carew galloping through but luckily his last touch was heavy and Jens stole the ball off his feet.

It was one way traffic for the first part of the second half. We defended our 18 yard line and could not get back on the ball and play our football.

Rosicky replaced Diaby and Flamini replaced Baptista who did not look very happy coming off and had words with Arsene Wenger.

Tomas Rosicky made an instant impression when he came on. Rosicky adds sharpness to our passing, he links players together and makes our side tick. His sharpness was missed against PSV.

It was quite funny watching how many times Aston Villa were caught offside. (14 overall) Almost like watching a team of Anelka's.

Can someone please inform Flamini that if he is going to play for us then can he play to his strengths. He almost cost us a goal by overplaying and he lost the ball from which Carew almost got in. Flamini is normally brought on to tighten up our side but then he starts making runs with the ball trying to beat players. PLEASE STOP.

Arsenal tightened up as the second half went on and became alot more compressed. It became attack against defence with Arsenal trying to play on the counter.

Rosicky had a few 'just come back' shots wide.

That was the final score in the end. Not a very entertaining Arsenal performance but it was important to get back to winning ways. Aston Villa deserved something from the game but didn't have enough quaility in the final third.

We are now third in the league with a game in hand over Liverpool (4th)

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
