The Highbury Library animted promo v5 350x350

When I heard the line up at 3.30pm I had a little smile on my face. The beast and Henry playing up top for the first time together.

Theo continues in the side due to Hleb's injury.

Wigan's new signing Julius Aghahowa who was linked to us for many years started alongside Heskey.

Arsenal had to start the game alot quicker and stronger than they did last week against. Which we did. Henry and Baptista linked up in the first couple minutes but Baps's touch let him down. Walcott made a bright start almost played in Baptista on 9 minutes but the youngsters cross was a little too long.

on 11 mins Landzatt hit a long range strike saved by Lehmann. Arsenal went down the other end of the pitch and Henry played in Rosicky who hit the side netting with his left foot.

A few minutes later Henry blazed over the bar after a Theo Walcott right wing cross.

It was looking positive for us, we were playing good football and being a bit more direct which was nice to see. We were playing the ball forward instead of sideways. Credit must go to Wigan as well for being positive and trying to attack us unlike alot of sides who turn up at the Emirates.

On 35 minutes Wigans bravery was rewarded. A good move involving Jackson and Aghahowa ended up with Landzatt having a thunderous shot into the top left corner of the net.

Hey, what a surprise 1-0 down at home. Can we get into the habit of scoring first instead.

Henry went down in the box on 41 minutes no pen, and rightly so.

What a crazy 45 minutes! Jens Lehmann managed to get his finger tips on Emile Heskeys shot while clean through took the ball onto the base of the post. Should have been two but Jens saved the day once again. We went straight down the other end of the pitch and Clichy sent in a perfect cross to Henry who really really should have scored but headed wide of the far post.

A hugely entertaining first half but once again we were on the wrong end of a 1-0 score line.

On 47 Heskey's arm flew into Djourou's face and he had to come off. Gilberto filled in for Djourou and Adebayor came on alongside Henry with Baptista sitting in the holding role.
While this was happening, Heskey had another fantastic chance which he blazed over from close range.

Rosicky playing from the left doesn't influence the game enough from there. He has some very nice and clever touches but finds it hard to assist or score goals from the wing.

On 54 another mazy run from Gael Clichy who is making that his trademark went down in the box but like Henry's early it wasn't a penalty.

Theo Walcott shot over the bar on 58 and he was getting more and more quiet as the second half wore on.

Rosicky drove inside and hit a shot wide.

Thierry Henry was having another one of those games. Since he has been back we have only seen about 60% of the real Henry.

Hoyte and Walcott were replaced for Aliadiere and Flamini on 66 minutes. I'm not quite sure what Arsene sees in replacing Hoyte for Flamini, its not as if he is an attack minded player.

It was looking a bit desperate for us by this stage. Wigan were defending well and we didn't really show much threat for all our possession.

The last 15 minutes was about attack against defence. Toure was playing as a defender/winger.

Heskey went down from a challenge by Flamini... Nothing given.

on 79 minutes Lehmann threw the ball to Jermie Aliadiere who exchanged passes with Cesc the ball was played threw to sub Flamini who was just slightly offside. He played it across the box and was turned into his own net by Fitz Hall. Henry was booked for shouting in the face of Chris Kirkland after he keeper was guilty of timewasting all game.

Arsenal turned up the heat, and upped the gears. On 85 a lovely move which Rosicky played a pass to Adebayor. The big man played a wonderful Bergkamp type pass into Baptista's path, the big Brazilian swung in a perfect cross for Tomas Rosicky to head into an open goal from 3 yards for his first Premiership goal of the season. 2-1!!

The rest of the game was keep ball. Jens Lehmann was booked for timewasting in true comedy Lehmann style.

Kirkland went forward for a freekick deep into injury time but nothing came of it. Arsenal countered with all the Wigan attacking and could have added a third but it didn't matter because they were stopped by the referees whistle.

I'm chuffed to bits that we got the 3 points but I think it may not highlight some of the problems we faced against Boro and again this afternoon.

Back into 4th and a point behind the Scousers.

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
