Omomo14 manages to do what I couldn't, put into words how he felt about our humiliating result at Old Trafford. He is a bigger man than me.

Distraught. That's the feeling I had after 90mins of total humiliation we suffered at the hands of Man United. I was pretty confident few hours before the game. But as the hour drew closer and reports started flying in about Sagna and Vermaelen missing the game panic. fear creeped in.

I knew a defeat was 80% certain but still had little hope that we could get something out of the game if only we fought like we did against Udinese in Italy.

We had our backs to the wall early on. United came with a very taught out plan and executed it with so much velocity. The pace at which they attacked. us with was scary. Young, Nani, Rooney, Evra went Lords Of The  Ring on  us.  At some point it was as if we were chasing shadows.

Szczesny was great, nothing he would have done to stop 6 or 7 of their goals and it could have been worse had he not made some top class saves. Sad he was at the end, resulting from some awful defending.

Our defence was in "sixes and sevens", couldn't match Man United's attack, stride for stride. Djourou was poor. People will say poor is an understatement and to be honest I won't fault their view. How he let Welbeck bully him for the 1st goal. I will never understand. Koscielny, his defence mate was on the other hand solid. He  made tackles that you will stand and applaud. His interventions as usual was spot on, His aerial duels was also impressive and his ball  passes out of defence was equally impressive. But as the saying goes, “ a tree can not make a forest” which was the case at Old Trafford.

Oh my. Our full backs on the day were atrocious, I like the fight and fire Jenkinson has but still it wasn't enough. Young and Evra were too good for him. Frustration led to him being "red carded" which is a bitter pill to swallow for one so young. A much more experienced Traore who has played the EPL before with Portsmouth and went on loan to Juventus last season should have performed better but he was worse. Traore's positional sense was poor to say the least. He was caught out times with out number. Can't say more!!!

Our midfield was makeshift, Coquelin, Ramsey and Rosicky were no match for the vibrant and forceful duo of Cleverly and Anderson largely because they had the pace of Nani and Young on the wings and Rooney who dropped deep to increase their numbers in midfield. In my opinion Coquelin did reasonably well but at this point reasonably well  to be honest didn't save us.

The only positive from this disastrous performance is that we have got goals in this team. We could have levelled the scores when we were 3-1 down  had we taken two chances missed by RVP and Arshavin. Not to mention the penalty missed.

We missed the likes of Vermaelen, Sagna, Gibbs, Frimpong, Song, Diaby, Wilshere and Gervinho plus the departures of Cesc and Nasri in the game but still that doesn't take away how good United were. They were the better side for vast majority of the game.

RVP sums it up perfectly: “Injuries are not an excuse. They have players out as well. You can't hide behind that."

Our supporters on Sunday at Old Trafford  were nothing short of awesome. They sang their hearts out even as we were drowning in goals again and again. Three Thousand fans rocked the stadium and I must confess I had goose bumps all over. I'm truly proud to be a supporter of this great club. Fact that things aren't going as planned for us doesn't take away the fact that we are ARSENAL FC! We are GUNNERS!  We shall move past this Ugly Ballad.

We can all sit and point fingers at Wenger for the shambles we are in but I won't be a party to that. The board in my opinion are solely to blame. Put the cash down and Wenger would strengthen. Why wait till the sales of Cesc and Nasri before we start making arrangements for replacements when all knew they would leave at some point this summer. Why not make the required purchases before sanctioning their transfers? I see most clubs that lost key players this summer replace them before effecting sales. So why are we different? Leaving it this late is unacceptable.

I would give an arm to be next to Wenger now, he really needs some comforting. I'm sure he is distraught. A 2 weeks break isn't what we want right now, we need a match fast to right this wrong and I mean NOW!!!

Switched off the television after the penalty miss as it was obvious what was coming but when I saw the final score I actually burst out laughing which I guess was some sort of nervous reaction to total humiliation.Where to begin in summing things up im not sure. Both teams probably had about the same number of guaranteed starters if all were availabe so excuses on that front are very thin.Wenger gets most of the blame from me because
1}He set up in a ridiculous manner to play at Old Trafford even with a full strength team.
2}For years he has let a lack of discipline cost us dearly(i.e. Song and to a lesser extent Gervinho}.
3}Why not get proper medical staff because when players injured ours almost always are out for much longer thasn expected whereas at other clubs they seem to come back quicker than forecast(eg Ferdinand).

you dont blame wenger, then run off a long list of reasons that are solely under wengers control?? he can go out an buy whenever he likes. he's has the money available since the last transfer window. he's had the money for clichy for over a month, but only after we get tanked 8-2 does he start looking at a left back. he's signed alex oxo. he has money, he can make signings, but he doesn't so he is solely to blame.

To just say Wenger needs to go is not enough.

It is also hypocritical: to bash on Wenger for selling Cesc and Nasri without getting replacements and then call for his removal WITHOUT GETTING A REPLACEMENT!!!

AFC owe me a bottle of red wine, 2 cans of lager and a few glasses of Whiskey. It was humlitating I had conceren phone calls from relatives who where worried. I have now recovered.

    Things that need to change

Arsenal cant compete with its current age structure and transfer "policy"
I really dont want AFC to declare a profit of 30 Million for the 6 smonths!
Wenger needs support from soneone like Camaolli/Dein
Wenger needs to get some coaches in like, clark at Liverpool
Ivan needs replacing, he doesnt add value.
Silent Stan needs to make a clear unambigious statement about Arsenal like the liverpool owner in the Telegraph on Saturday

It's now on the AFC website.
I see he likes to be known as Ju. Someone should have a word with him.

Also, jumping the gun a bit maybe, I really hope this one comes off:

Matt - We ARE supporting the club. Speaking out about the turmoil we're going through, is what genuine concerned supporters SHOULD be doing. To you that's "negative". To the rest of us it's constructive. Particularly if it prompts the necessary and overdue changes.
Do you have any opinions, or are you happy just to slap down those of us that do ? You might find the Arsenal Truth article instructive ( if you're open minded enough to read it ) ; http://arsenaltruth.squarespace.com/arsenal-truth/month/ august-2011

I seems that the supporters have been ignored for too long. Even the most optomistic of us expected defeat on sunday and most of us feared the humiliation that we ultimately suffered. We saw it coming a mile off and whenever we questioned the leadership at arsenal or begged for more players the club had the indignation to suggest we lacked faith or didn't understand the potential this team had. But what I want the club to realise is that it doesn't make a blind bit of difference what I understand and what I am ignorant to but I am a supporter and I love arsenal and the only reason that It makes profit year after year is because of all of the thousands of pounds that I have spent on shirts and tickets and programmes over the years. Well no more I still love the club and still ache for it to succeed but while I as a fan feel ignored I will not spend my money on it anymore however many stupid sets of wings it puts on the shirts or anniversaries it comes up with. I get ripped off by bankers, estate agents, solicitors and many other of societies fat cats. On a daily basis I am forced to part with my hard earned cash to pay for one thing or another that the government has told me I owe them for or some form of interest I am obliged to pay for this or another. Football is a retreat for me a world where I can enjoy a hobby and relax on a sunday afternoon. Arsenal is gradually becoming just another expense that I seem to recieve no gratuity or recognition for and I will not give this hopeless, greedy, stingy board the satisfaction any longer. From now on supporting arsenal will be cost free and I hope that others will see and sympathise with my point of view. The board has to realise sooner or later that the fans are the heart of the club not its bank account.

Matt, The fact that we are supporting arsenal till death does not mean we do not have the right to comment on the things affecting our club. I don't think writing an article about our recent setbacks which can easily be controlled and could have been avoided is wrong. We all trust in AW but, the fact is he is slowly and fatally sending our club to the darkest moment. His stinginess will one day send us to the championship. I will advocate some amount of interference in some of his transfer decisions. He be ready to not just spend but to buy quality players and make strategic signings as well. We would continuously bash him if he does not change from this stinginess
