By Tom Lee

I think most people would agree that the question of Arsenal's strongest current line-up is one to ponder, as I am not so sure myself, but I have a good idea of what it should be next season, with our current squad.

In goal, we have a promising young GK in Lukasz Fabianski, however Almunia is our number one for now, as I think we saw proof of in the closing stages of last season.

Right back is a position we are really strong in as Sagna, even though his crossing could be improved, is one of the best in the business. However, we also have Eboue who in my opinion is a very good right back also, but just second to Sagna.

Centre half is a bit trickier. I am of the opinion that Gallas is our strongest CB, so he would be one of the two and I'm not sure Toure and Gallas bring out the best in each other as a partnership, and despite them both being very good CB's, the partnership isn't good enough to win the Premier League. Therefore Johan Djourou should take his place in the line-up after impressing at times last season, aswell as the fact that he has good aerial ability. Then there is Toure, Song (if needed) and sorry but yes, Silvestre as back up.

Left Back is similar to right back, a position where we are very strong but it has to be Clichy as first choice, with the ever-promising Gibbs as back up, and as I just realised Traore also as back up there. Clichy had a better 07/08 than he did 08/09 but I don't doubt his ability and attitude. It winds me up to see people criticising Clichy, no doubt the slip against Tottenscum has probably merited this for some people, a bit harsh as he is a quality left back even if he has made a couple of errors this season.

Right Midfield is another position we have several options in, as Nadri, Walcott, Arshavin and who knows, Rosicky maybe, will all be options for right midfield. I think Nasri plays better on the right than on the left, and Walcott is long-term a striker, but still is an option. Similar to this is Arshavin who is better in the middle I think, and Rosicky is better on the left. Seen as I don't see Rosicky as a realsitic option yet, what with all the niggly injuries he'll no doubt get I think that Walcott should be deployed on the right as first choice next season.

As for the centre of midfield, there will obviously be Fabregas, and with him i would play the person out of Diaby, Song and Denilson that will bring the best out of him. Therefore Song would be choice number 1, as he is more defensive than the others and is better at the dirty work. However I'd still prefer a new experienced DM such as Senna or De Rossi to go there.

Similar to right midfield, there is a big question mark on who is the right choice for this slot in the team , at left midfield. Nasri would be played here, if it was up to me as he has got to be in the team somewhere what with his goals, creativity and link up play.

Up front is probably the hardest position to decide. First of all, should we have a player like Adebayor or Bendtner up front as a physical presence and to bring out the best in his smaller, more creative partner? I haven't so far given Arshavin a place in the team, because of the fact that I think the team should be built around our best players, therefore Fabregas and Arshavin, and to do this you should play them in their best positions, and Arshavin's is in the middle behind the striker.

His partner should be one who can hold up the ball and can play as a striker that drops off less. However, with a little tutoring I think van Persie would be able fill this role, as I believe he should be in the team after being arguably our player of the season last season and because of being top-scorer and he gets a lot of assists. Bendtner, Eduardo, Adebayor and Vela are all very talented and this is not to say they wouldn't get much playing time as we all know we will rotate next season and will be as ever cripled by injuries! The pecking order up front should be:

1) Van persie
2) Arshavin
3) Eduardo
4) Bendtner
5) Adebayor
6) Walcott
7) Vela (who maybe could be put out on loan for 1st ream football.)

Sagna Gallas Djourou Clichy
Walcott Fabregas Song Nasri
van Persie Arshavin
(Nasri, Walcott, VP, Arshavin could all rotate)

What do you think?

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
