I respect Cesc's conduct in the continuing media saga & wish him well when ever he decides to leave. I have also enjoyed having a mixed team from around the globe - but why do we sign players with hearts that lay firmly with Barca & only came to us as Barca didnt want them -until we helped them to become what they are today.

Why don't we sign players who have the same desire to play for Arsenal- British players who only a tiny % are wanted or choose to play abroad. Other Prem clubs may offer more money but this would serve to weed out those who are chasing the cash.

When we lose Games/Titles/ Trophies etc.. & then told not to worry because the players have gained valuable experience! how can we benefit from the time invested in them if when they reach fruition they often leave - Hleb, Flamini, + a long list that will eventually include Fabregas. This i fear is where are policies are crucially flawed!

Question: do you agree/disagree that this is a problem for Arsenal FC?

Mean Lean's Response

Matlee, when you buy players from another country then you will always run the risk that player x will want to return back to his homeland at some point, it is the way of football and has been for many years. This is not just a problem for Arsenal. Manchester United's Ronaldo is a Latin footballer who came over to England to join a big club, develop into the best player in the world then he kicked and screamed until he landed in Madrid. Xabi Alonso a Spanish midfield player who has had a great career in England until Real called.

It is very easy to say that we should go out and buy British players but then you have to ask yourself this. How many English players have the technical quality and temperament to play for an Arsene Wenger team? Once you have located that player you have to ask yourself is the price tag suitable? It is usually difficult to find a match on both of those requirements. This is why Arsene is bringing through the likes of Wilshere, Ramsey, Landsbury, Frimpong and Emmanuel-Thomas, it will just take longer to get them to the level that is needed to be a regular starter.

Liverpool were not playing Steven Gerrard every week at 17 years old and look at the player he is today.

So in answer to your question.. I disagree that these are any problems for our wonderful club.

So let me stop reminiscing of days gone by and let me focus on our Welsh wonder. Let me start off by saying that I think it is quite obvious that Aaron Ramsey is better in central midfield. His partnership with Mesut Özil, his running from deep and his underrated ball winning ability makes him a ...Read more
